The Ark About us - the fine accommodation and beautiful gardens.

Hello my name is Frieda, and I run "The Ark" a Bed & Breakfast (B&B)  in Lawrence, Central Otago, New Zealand. The Ark is a character home which was built in 1890 by Frederick Augustus Miller a local builder (for himself).  Mr Miller was the builder of many character homes still standing in Lawrence. The Ark - 1984 - now fine accommodation for you to enjoy!

This is "The Ark" in 1984 when I first purchased it.   There was plenty of work involved in restoring it and planting our the wonderful gardens that surround "The Ark" today.

I am originally from Hengelo in Holland so I speak fluent Dutch and a little German. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world who come to Central Otago to enjoy this unique region of New Zealand.

The Ark is a welcoming, comforting retreat from the busy city life, and you feel like you are going back in history in its setting of the historic gold mining town of Lawrence. I also have an extensive garden which is open to the public.
